RME Launches Analog
Multichannel Converter Series

RME
launches new analog multichannel MADI and ADAT
converter series at Frankfurt Musikmesse 2009 RME's
comprehensive MADI line is now extended by hi-class
multichannel converters with 16 and 32 channels. The
M-series converters have been conceived and optimized
for professional studio, stage, and broadcast
applications.
Packed into only 2U height the M-32 AD offers a
32-channel AD-conversion to MADI and ADAT in reference
quality. The fully symmetrical analog circuit design
guarantees excellent S/N and THD specs across a wide
analog level range. Using up-to-date converter
technology, the device not only works up to 192 kHz,
but also reaches a real-world signal-to-noise ratio of
116 dBA — on all channels. Further features are analog
limiters for an efficient protection of the analog
inouts against overload, three hardware reference
levels up to +24 dBu, MADI and ADAT I/O, analog inputs
via 6.3mm TRS and D-sub connectors, remote control via
MIDI and MIDI over MADI, and operation across a wide
range of mains voltages.
Nearly identical features are found in the M-32 DA,
which offers a 32-channel high-end DA conversion. It is
easy to operate despite having a comprehensive feature
set. The unit combines excellent analog circuit design
with the latest converter chips and RME's superior
SteadyClock into a state-of-the-art DA conversion, with
outstanding THD and S/N specs of up to 118 dBA.
Both converters are also available as 16-channel
versions. Except for the reduced channel count M-16 AD
and M-16 DA are identical to their bigger brothers.
M-series converters have optical and coaxial MADI I/Os
for fail safe redundancy operation. The MADI input
serves not only as optional external clock source, but
passes unused channels to the output undelayed. This
way the signals of multiple units can be combined
serially into one MADI stream of up to 64 channels.
Thus RME's new M-series is an unsurpassed flexible base
for the realization of multichannel setups.
Combinations of the M-16 and M-32 converters allow
setups with 16, 32, 48, or 64 channels, according to
your individual application or budget. Up to four M-16
AD/DA and up to two M-32 AD/DA can be connected in
series via MADI.
Due to the newly developed zero-delay MADI I/O the
M-series converters can be used serially without
problems with any other MADI devices and setups. A
compensation of typical pass-through delays is not
necessary as their MADI I/Os operate virtually
transparent.
Included ADAT ports make the M-series not only first
choice with MADI, but also a perfect solution for all
other units having ADAT interfaces.
The converters of the M-series are expected to be
available in May 2009.
Lynx L-Slot MADI Expansion
Card for Aurora Converters

available
September 2009.
Lynx Studio Technology:
Aurora 16 & Aurora 8 AD/DA

The Aurora 16 and Aurora 8 AD/DA
converters provide world-class analog to digital
and digital to analog conversion in a compact
one-rack space format. With sample rates up to 192
kHz, Aurora offers wide, open, uncompressed and
unequalized audio for studios, mastering
facilities, remote recording, broadcast and
production. Lynx’s exclusive SynchroLock word
clock offers extreme jitter reduction, providing
clean digital audio signals for Aurora and other
digital devices in the studio.
Grimm Audio AD 1

Operating directly at 1 bit,
2.8224MHz, the AD1 | Grimm is eminently suitable for
creating SACD
masters from
analogue sources. Additonally, DSD processing DAW's
will find no better front end. Combined with our DD1
digital converter, the AD1 offers the
best
CD rate converter performance available.
In order to get past the limitations posed by
commercially available converter chips, the AD1´s
converters are made with discrete
parts. The input
circuitry before the modulator consists of only two
resistors. This strategy pays off with
unparallelled low noise and
distortion, while
delivering data that can be directly pressed onto SACDs
or processed in a DSD workstation.
RME ADI8QS

RME's
ADI-8 QS is a new, highly flexible, and fully featured
8-channel AD/DA converter. The device combines
excellent analog circuit design with outstanding low
latency AD/DA converters. Along with SteadyClock, the
QS redefines the reference class of analog/digital
converters. The compact 19"/1U device has a host of
features, including analog and digital limiters, 4
hardware reference levels up to +24 dBu, AES/EBU and
ADAT I/O up to 192 kHz, optional MADI I/O, remote
digital input trimming for full input calibration,
remote volume control for all 8 analog outputs, either
separately, globally and much more.
RME ADI192DD

The ADI-192 DD is
the successor to the highly successful ADI-8 DD.
The completely re-engineered device was designed
to be the most powerful format and sample rate
converter ever. Hence the ADI-192 DD not only
features considerable improvements compared to the
ADI-8 DD, but also adds a number of new and unique
features. * Supports 192 kHz with ADAT, TDIF und
AES * 8-channel sample rate conversion up to 192
kHz * Sample Rate Conversion can be selected for
AES, TDIF or ADAT * 8-channel Sample Rate
Conversion without phase errors (sub-sample
synchronous) * SteadyClock for maximum jitter
suppression and clock regeneration * Complete
triple format converter AES/TDIF/ADAT with added
SPDIF TOSLINK I/O * Direct support for Double and
Quad Wire, S/MUX and S/MUX4 * Also when using SRC
* Special TDIF word clock output * Simplified and
easy-to-use user interface
RME Launches DMC-842 Digital
Microphone Interface

RME
launches DMC-842 - the first multi-channel interface
for digital
microphones. The
introduction of digital microphone technology into the
pro audio sector has afforded sound engineers a greater
degree of flexibility. At the same time, it has created
a demand for interfaces that can control and handle
digital microphones.
RME MICSTACY - 8Ch Remote
Preamp & AD with MADI-option

Micstasy is an 8-channel hi-end
mic/line preamp combining typical RME features
with a number of previously unseen features. It
can be used analog (Mic/Line In to Line Out) and
digital (Mic/Line In to Digital Out), with both
signal paths operating simultaneously. Just
passing on the amplified signals replaces the need
for a splitter box on stage. The device is fully
remote-controllable via MIDI or MIDI over
MADI.
RME OctaMic II

The new OctaMic
II Preamp - replacing the OctaMic D - provides a
completely new electronic design with increased
features. The new Preamp features 8-channel 192
kHz/24 bit AD conversion, hi-class microphone and
line pre-amplification and includes some
significant enhancements compared to his
predecessors, like a maximum input level of +21
dBu with a convenient gain range from 0 dB up to
50 dB, an improved signal to noise ratio ADC of
107.5 dB, improved THD, especially at high gains
and much more. Available from october.
