Equator Q8

iDeal Audio is pleased to
announce the Equator Q8 studio reference monitors
are now shipping. Currently the smallest and most
affordable monitor in the Q Series catalog, the
Equator Q8 employs the identical design
characteristics that have enabled the Q8's larger
siblings to obtain such critical acclaim.
Measuring a mere 13" x 13" x 13" and featuring an
8-inch woofer coupled with a high-powered, 1-inch
compression horn driver, the new Q8 delivers the power
and accuracy of Equator Audio's larger Q Series models,
but with a more compact form factor. A 2-way active
system, the Q8 enclosure is constructed of 13-ply
Baltic Birch and is heavily braced for cabinet
rigidity.

Equator Q18

Equator Audio
Research, recognized globally as a leading manufacturer
of highly accurate studio reference monitors for
mission critical recording applications, is pleased to
announce the company’s new Q18S subwoofer is now
shipping. Designed with the same level of painstaking
attention to detail as the entire Equator product line,
the new Q18S sub bass system is the ideal complement to
Equator Audio’s Q Series studio reference monitors and
is a ‘must have’ studio component for those facilities
recording sound for picture, where low frequency
effects (LFE) are so critical to a project.
Measuring 29 x 25 x 25 inches and featuring an 18-inch
low frequency transducer with a heavy duty 4-inch voice
coil in a bass reflex enclosure, the Equator Audio Q18S
has the muscle to produce bone shattering lows—making
this the ideal sub bass system for both music
applications as well as sound effects work for TV and
film. Sporting a black/micro-metallic gray finish, the
Q18S enclosure is constructed from three-quarter inch,
13-ply Baltic Birch and is heavily braced for cabinet
rigidity. Of equal significance, the subwoofer’s baffle
is constructed from 1-inch high density fiberboard
(HDF) compared to many competing systems that use
medium density fiberboard.
Designed as a 4-ohm system, the self-powered Equator
Audio Q18S is driven by 2000 watts of pulse pounding,
adrenalin filled peak power that ensures the bass will
be both heard and felt with conviction. This down
firing system features a unique bell-shaped base that
enables the Q18S to couple with any size room, enabling
it to reproduce frequencies down to 16 Hz. As one would
expect from a world-class subwoofer, Equator Audio’s
extremely efficient Q18S employs LF compression,
thermal, short circuit, and under voltage protection
for the system’s driver complement.
The Equator Audio Q18S features the connectivity
required for today’s high-tech audio production.
Featuring both an RS-485 In/Thru interface and a USB
connector, these ports enable Equator Audio’s room
compensation and control software to communicate with
multiple Q Series monitors and subwoofers for the
purpose of adjusting crossover points, EQ curves, and a
host of additional functions.
Audio connectors include balanced Neutrik® Combo input
connectors and XLR throughput connectors.Like all
Equator Audio Q Series products, the new Q18S benefits
from cutting-edge DSP technology that helps mix
engineers ensure their room is optimized for accurate
monitoring. Included with every Equator Q Series
product is a software application that enables a mix
engineer to manually compensate for acoustic anomalies
in addition to issues created by speaker placement and
boundary conditions within the listening environment.
Along with the environmental compensation, this
included software also provides extraordinary control
over the monitors—including the ability to define
crossover frequencies, equalization, mute, solo, and
phase. Stereo, 2.1, 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, and 8.2 monitoring
configurations can be quickly and easily optimized and
saved.

Equator Room Analysis
Software with Mic Calibration Kit

The Equator Room
Analyzer (Automated Room Response
Compensation/Secondary Reflection Correction) software
and microphone package puts fully automated control of
your speakers at your fingertips. Featuring a series of
proprietary algorithms for the analysis, room
correction, and compensation for a room's tonal
response characteristics, the SRC software—in
combination with a specialized calibrated microphone
(included)—measures each speaker and makes adjustments
to optimize and EQ the speaker s response for specified
listening positions in the room. Stereo, 2.1, 5.1, 6.1,
7.1 and 8.2 monitoring configurations can be quickly
and easily optimized and saved. You can even create
multi-position configurations, so the engineer can
monitor properly at the mix position, and the band can
listen accurately and comfortably from the control room
couch. But that s just the start.
Reflected waves bouncing off your console or your video
monitor are the bane of just about every recording
musician on the planet. These secondary reflections can
cause frequency dips and comb filtering in the critical
800Hz 3KHz range, giving you a skewed tonal picture and
wreaking serious havoc with your stereo imaging. These
acoustic nuances are of the main reasons that music
mixes leave recording studios with buried vocals, harsh
guitars, and other sonic unpleasantries.
The Secondary Reflection Correction software
identifies, then digitally corrects these reflections.
So when you listen to your mix on a Q monitor, you re
hearing pure, uncolored, and totally unobstructed
sound.

Avantone Active
Mixcubes

The AVANTONE MixCubes mini
reference monitors give you the ability to hear
what your mixes will sound like on bass-challenged
real-world systems such as computers, televisions,
car stereos, and iPod docking stations. These
full-range, active MixCubes are 6-1/2" tall, and
each contains a 5-1/4" speaker that provides
excellent sound reproduction for great reference
mixing. The cabinets are shielded, so you can
place them next to computer monitors. For making
high-quality, accurate mixes that sound great on
any system, use the MixCubes to complete your
monitor setup!
Dynaudio BM6A-MkII &
BM12A

The
Dynaudio Acoustics BM 5A set a new benchmark for what
an active nearfield studio monitor could be. The new BM
6A mk II and BM 12A take advantage of that same design
philosophy while offering more power, more headroom and
wider frequency response.
Grimm Audio LS1

A good monitor combines a high
degree of accuracy with untrammeled musicality.
There aren't many of those around - common wisdom
has it that you can have one or the other but
never both. The LS1 is the first monitor to prove
conventional wisdom wrong.
True accuracy is about getting all the bits in the
right place: not losing anything, not adding anything
either. The LS1 offers this accuracy, reproducing a
truly musical recording accurately, with all beauty
intact. At the same time, the LS1 will also reproduce
any imperfection, giving you all the information you
need to get it right.
To achieve this departure from traditional wisdom, the
LS1 departs from traditional design in many ways:
-
Wide
baffle. This provides controlled dispersion down to the
upper bass region, reducing the room influence.
- The shallow profile keeps internal standing waves
above the crossover frequency.
-
Sealed
enclosure providing reduced phase shift and hence
tighter bass.
-
Evading the
pitfalls of automated FIR design, the manually tuned
IIR filters insure consistent off-axis behaviour with
the fastest transient response that does not produce
pre-echos.
-
Electronics
are in the stand, isolated from the acoustic vibrations
of the speaker.
Additional features:
-
Analogue
and digital inputs
-
Low jitter
internal clock circuit (identical to the CC1)
-
MIDI
control
-
Exactly
defined, user configurable highpass response for easy
subwoofer integration
-
Floorstanding on easily detachable
legs.
-
Elegant
aesthetics.
Result is a speaker that is at equal ease in tracking,
mixing and mastering studios.
